Principal's Welcome 2018

Dear Parents
Welcome back to Edge Hill State School for what is sure to be another exciting year.  It was great to see all the happy, smiling faces of new and returning students on our first day. The year has started very smoothly and classes are already focused on the important business of learning. Thank you to all our families for making sure that your students were well equipped and ready for school.
I know teachers are looking forward to sharing what will happen this year when Parent Teacher Nights are scheduled over the first few weeks of the term. It is always helpful if you are able to attend the class meetings and we do look forward to seeing you.
In the last few days we have enrolled a number of new students across all our year levels and welcomed 125 Prep students at Edge Hill.  School numbers will be finalised in Week 2 and we predict our enrolment numbers will settle at around 1130 students. A welcome sausage sizzle for all our new Prep families will be held on Wednesday 24 January.
A Back to School disco will be held on Thursday 1 February for students in Years 1-6. This is an Edge Hill tradition and a much anticipated event for many students and families.

Our swimming program has started and classes have been informed of when their swimming lessons will be held. Please ensure that students remember to bring their swimming gear on the correct days.
Just a reminder to update your family details (address, telephone contacts, email address, emergency contacts etc) at the school office. If you haven't updated your details recently it is probably a sign that it is time to check all your information is up to date. This is particularly important if your child is unwell and we need to contact you.

Please check out our school web site and our Facebook page for all the latest school news. Web:   Facebook:
Traffic and parking around our school is often chaotic at the start of the school year and can take a few weeks to settle. Please be patient and tolerant as we all want to keep our students safe. On wet days we need to take even more care as traffic conditions deteriorate. This is a good opportunity to talk with your child about road safety.

This Friday is Australia Day and is a public holiday.
