Edge Hill Academies

At Edge Hill State School, we believe that Languages Other Than English (LOTE), Physical Education (PE), the Arts and Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) are crucial in the formation of happy, healthy and productive citizens. It is through study in these areas that students can become innovative thinkers and problem solvers. They will learn to recognise and appreciate beauty, value diversity, communicate effectively, express themselves, discipline their bodies, and grow in confidence.

Edge Hill State School already invests heavily in its specialist teaching areas, achieving above and beyond the requirements of the Australian curriculum. But we want to reach even higher. From 2017, students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding and further their skills in PE, the Arts, and STEM through our Academy Programs. These elective classes will be run outside of regular school hours, extending classroom learning for students with special interest. There are costs involved in participation in the Academy Programs.

We are thrilled to support the continuation of our Triathlon Academy (which opened in 2016) and the inauguration of newer Music and STEM Academies. In the future we hope to start similar programs in dance, drama, visual art, creative writing and Japanese.

For more information and application forms, contact Simone Richardson via the EHSS office.

Edge Hill Academies are an initiative of Edge Hill State School.
Programs are open to Edge Hill students and, where possible, members of the wider community. Program charges are payable to the EHSS office at the beginning of term.
