As part of 'The Arts' curriculum, all students from Prep through Year 6 have Music lessons for 1 hour a week in 2 x 30 minute lessons. The focus of these lessons is to build on students' understanding of the elements of music through singing, listening, playing instruments and having fun with music. Music literacy is at the core of these classes with students of all ages reading and writing music appropriate to their abilities.
Classroom music lessons provide students the opportunity to hone their singing and pitch perception through Solfa singing, and rhythm reading using the Kodaly method.
Prep- Year 2 students focus on voice, body percussion, as well as tuned and untuned percussion. Year 3 students include the above and the recorder, reading from the treble clef. Years 4- 6 include the above as well as keyboard, guitar, ukulele and the bass clef.
