In Terms 1 and 2, we hold our District Team Trial events for Cross Country and Athletics. Before school or lunchtime training activities are held in the lead up to these trials. These events determine our EHSS Age-Champions with medals awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. From these events our representative team is selected and competes in the Trinity Coast Central division at local events. Edge Hill has experienced great success over the years with students selected to join the TCC team to compete at the regional Peninsula events, and even to represent at state level.
Students aged 10-12 also have the opportunity to trial for a position in our TCC District, Regional and State sporting teams. At the start of the year, a sports muster is held with students encouraged to nominate themselves in their chosen sports. When a large group of students nominate for a particular sport, an informal trial is held at school in order to select students to attend the local TCC trial event. These opportunities are for students who already train and play with a local club. A wide range of sports are on offer: basketball, netball, football (soccer), touch football, AFL, aquathlon, hockey, tennis, cricket, rugby league and union, squash, softball, triathlon (12 yr+), and volleyball (12yr+). Information is distributed to students during the year as trial dates approach.
Edge Hill also enters school teams in Netball, Football (soccer) and ALF carnivals during the year. These teams are coached by our passionate staff members who have years of experience and expertise in their chosen sports. Trials and training are held during lunchtimes with representative teams competing locally. Edge Hill has brought home trophies on many occasions from the Marlin Coast Netball Championships and Jamie Gosling Football Interschool Competition. Go Edge Hill!
